"Brazilian artist Bruno Novelli, aka Bruno 9Li, is arguably one of the most dynamic creative figures in Brazil's contemporary art scene" - Juxtapoz Art and Culture Magazine
Mythological, spiritual, pantheistic: are the first adjectives to define Bruno 9li’s metaphysical world. He synthesizes within his artistic production several dichotomies and contradictions of the Brazilian world: metropolitan, ephemeral, natural, and technological. The artist draws upon the Bergsonian ontological model and the lush rainforest of his native Brazil to examine the boundaries and parallels between nature and language
Bruno Novelli (a.k.a. Bruno 9li) was born in Brazil in 1980. He has a degree in Graphic Design (ESPM - São Paulo), attended painting classes at Instituto Tomie Ohtake (São Paulo) and studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Novelli’s work has been exhibited in his native Brazil, as well as internationally in England, Denmark, Spain, Japan, Mexico, and the United States. He has collaborated with Nike and Adidas, and his work has been reviewed by Art in America and The New York Times Style Magazine, among other international publications. The works were from Bruno 9li's solo show with legendary art dealer Thomas Cohn, who also discovered Blue Chip Brazilian artists such as Beatriz Milhazes and Adriana Varejao,
In April 2021, his artwork was included in the important group exhibition 1981/2021: Arte Contemporânea Brasileira na Coleção de Andrea e José Olympio Pereira at the well respected cultural institution CCBB in Rio de Janeiro. This exhibition features a selection of work from one of the most important collections of art in the world. Credit Suisse president José Olympio da Veiga Pereira is a trustee of London’s Tate Modern and MoMA in New York, as well as a member of the boards of the Museum of Modern art in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
